Gary Thrasher grew up with a love of horses fueling his dream of becoming a veterinarian. He graduated from Ohio State and served in the Army Reserve during his years at the College of Veterinary Medicine. Stationed at Fort Huachuca, Gary moonlighted doing vet work at area ranches. With his military duties completed, Gary was active in Brucellosis, Tuberculosis and Screw Worm Eradication programs. He developed protocols for safely importing cattle into the USA from Mexico. Through the years he leased cattle ranches in Tombstone and Hereford in addition to owning a feed lot in Willcox. Gary is a ready responder to the Arizona ALIRT program for animal health emergencies. He has testified before the U.S. Congress and Arizona Legislature on animal health and border issues. The Arizona Cattle Growers honored Gary with their Top Wrangler Award and Gary was inducted into the Willcox Cowboy Hall of Fame in 2021.
