Inducted in 2026
Three young brothers left Ireland and after various adventures, arrived in Cochise County, Arizona Territory. James Brophy arrived in Tombstone in 1879, later establishing a ranch in the Sulphur Springs Valley. Michael and William Brophy arrived in 1880 and 1881, settling in Bisbee. Through the years, the brothers were involved in utilities, mining, banking and commercial enterprises. Over time, the Brophy’s purchased and managed multiple cattle ranches and farms in Arizona, including the Babacomari Ranch. As long-term ranchers and farmers, the Brophy brothers and their descendants have made a major contribution to agricultural production in Arizona. In 2008 the Babacomari Ranch received an Environmental Steward Award as stewards dedicated to natural resource conservation through the use of innovative, cost-effective stewardship practices.
